POSITION OVERVIEW

Online English Teacher

We are looking for online English teachers to teach students from Mexico, Latin America, and other international contexts.

Type of Role

This is a freelance teaching role.

We are looking for teachers who can offer a stable weekly schedule of:

Earnings

Teaching rates range from $210 MXN to $300 MXN per teaching hour, depending on experience, class type, availability, and profile.

Teachers working around 20 hours per week can earn approximately $22,000 MXN per month, with room to increase based on workload and assigned classes.

This role is ideal for teachers who want consistent online teaching hours and who are interested in developing a long-term professional relationship with our school.

We are not looking for short-term availability or temporary cover.

WORKING HOURS

Teaching Hours

Most of our students are based in Mexico and Latin America, so our highest-demand teaching hours are aligned with Mexico City time.

Our Priority Teaching Hours

Morning Block

7:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Mexico City time

Evening Block

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Mexico City time

Important:

It is very important that you can genuinely offer availability during these high-demand blocks. We are not simply looking for "any availability"; we are looking for availability that matches the times when our students need classes most.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

What We Need From You

Language Requirement

You can apply if you meet one of the following criteria:

Option 1: Native English Speaker

English is your native language and you feel confident teaching it to adult learners, professionals, and/or corporate clients.

Option 2: Certified C1 or C2

English is not your native language, but you have a certified C1 or C2 level of English.

Accepted certifications:

Cambridge English qualifications, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, Linguaskill, Oxford Test of English, or other recognised C1/C2 English certifications.

We welcome both native and non-native teachers. What matters most is your teaching ability, communication style, language proficiency, professionalism, and alignment with Habla Bonito's methodology.

Availability Requirement

You must be able to commit to:

  • A minimum of 10 teaching hours per week
  • Stable weekly availability
  • Availability during our high-demand hours
  • A minimum collaboration period of 8 months if selected

This is very important to us. Our students build trust and connection with their teachers. When a teacher leaves after only a few weeks or changes their availability unexpectedly, it affects the student experience.

We value stability, consistency, and long-term collaboration.

Technology Requirement

Because our classes are fully online, you must have:

  • A reliable laptop or computer
  • Stable internet connection
  • A quiet and professional teaching space
  • Functional camera and microphone
  • Confidence using Zoom
  • Confidence using Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar)

We also value familiarity with:

Notion, Canva, online whiteboards, learning platforms, AI tools, and digital resources for online teaching.

You do not need to know every tool perfectly, but you do need to be comfortable learning, adapting, and solving small tech issues independently.

Preferred Experience

Teaching experience is strongly preferred, although not always mandatory. We especially value experience in:

Teaching online
Business English
Pronunciation and fluency development
Grammar taught in context
Personalised lesson planning
Supporting students who lack confidence when speaking

Formal teaching qualifications are welcome, but we also care deeply about your teaching presence, communication style, preparation, empathy, and commitment.

  • You cannot offer availability during our high-demand hours.
  • You are uncomfortable using basic digital tools.
  • You struggle with Zoom, Google Workspace, or online teaching platforms.
  • You do not have stable internet or a quiet teaching space.
  • You prefer to improvise every class without structure.
  • You do not enjoy receiving feedback.
  • You are not interested in following a school methodology.
  • You are juggling too many projects and may need to leave after a short time.
  • You are looking for random hours outside the times we actually need.
  • You see this only as a temporary side project with no real commitment.
  • You are not a native English speaker and do not have a certified C1 or C2 level of English.
